Maxime Rémillard and his brother Julien, owners of the film company Remstar, completed their overhaul of Quebec TV network TQS with the introduction of its new branding revealed at an event in Montreal. As of August 31, the station will be known as V. " 'Not Channel V, not V-TV. Only and simply V,' " said Maxime Rémillard, co-chair and CEO of the network.
The rebranding includes the new tag line " 'Let yourself be entertained.' " The logo is a V inside a circle, and to show the station is staying true to its non-conformist bad-boy roots, the V even has the hint of horns on it.
The mission of V is to offer " 'a new entertainment alternative, based on the satisfaction of guilty pleasures,' " said Maxime Rémillard, adding that V can stand for " 'Vice, Vitesse (speed), Vedettes (stars), Vérité (truth), and Voyeur.' " However, it could also stand for Very different ad formats. V is introducing two options for marketers looking to insert their messaging right into programming.
The first will be a super at the bottom of the screen during a show. The second is a pop-up ad inserted into the backdrop of a scene in original locally produced programming, with the producer's approval. The ads will move according to the movements of the camera. No marketer has bought the new options yet, but Luc Marchildon, head of créativité média and V marketing, expects both formats to be on screen by mid-September.
