DTV Preparedness Rises in the U.S.

Around 3.4% of households (3.8 million) in the U.S. are unprepared for the DTV transition on June 12, 2009.  The month of March saw a major increase in DTV preparedness, with 610,000 homes getting ready for the switchover.

The 3.4% is down a full percentage point from February 15, two days before the original transition date.

African Americans (6.2% unprepared) and those under 35 (6.3% unprepared) are the groups most affected by the transition.  Hispanics are at 5.6% unprepared, down almost a full percentage point in March alone.

Albuquerque, New Mexico is the least prepared market in the United States (9.4% unready), followed by Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston (each with 6.3%).  The New England markets of New Haven-Hartford and Providence-New Bedford are the most prepared, each with less then one percent unprepared.
