Despite objections from Rogers Communications, the CRTC has approved a licence for a new BDU in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), which will increase competition in the already crowded market. Ravinder Singh Pannu applied for the licence in February.
The BDU aims to reach a minimum target audience of 3,600 subscribers, but it will be available to over 1.3 million households. The service will be offered at the rate of $21 per subscriber.
